This Basil Parmesan Garlic Bread recipe is garlic bread with a twist! Fresh basil and parmesan cheese really takes this classic to the next level. Great with any Italian meal like pasta but also with a salad or a soup. I especially like to serve this with my Meatball Tomato Soup with Pasta and Basil to make the ultimate comfort food meal. Whatever you choose to serve it with, one thing is for sure, your kitchen will smell absolutely divine!! It’s hot, crispy and cheezy and everyone just loves it. We all know that garlic is incredibly healthy, but it also has other great benefits : apparently, research by Dr. Alan Hirsch has proven that just the smell and taste of garlic bread at dinner improves positive interactions among family members by about 8 percent and decreases negative interactions by 22 percent. Probably a good thing to remember next time you have that big family reunion dinner!!!
I use french baguette for this but you could also use ciabatta bread if you prefer. You might also replace the parmesan with mozzarella.
- ⅓ cup butter, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh basil
- 1 baguette, halved horizontally and crosswise
- 1¼ cups shredded Parmesan cheese
- Preheat oven at 425°F (220°C).
- Mix together butter, garlic and basil in a small bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper (go easy on the salt if you're using salted butter).
- Spread over cut sides of baguette.
- Place baguette cut side up on foil-lined rimmed baking sheet and sprinkle with the parmesan cheese.
- Bake in oven until cheese is bubbly and bread is golden, about 10-12 minutes.
