This Homemade Pizza Sauce recipe couldn’t be easier. Like I said in my previous post, I like to make my pizza from scratch. I used to buy the tomato sauce when I made pizza but now I don’t bother, this homemade pizza sauce is so easy it’s crazy. All you need to do is to blend a can of tomatoes and season generousely with salt and pepper, so basically, it’s so simple that you can’t really call it a recipe, it’s more of an idea! It takes litterally 2 minutes more than opening a jar of purchased tomato sauce and it is so much more flavorful.
I recommend using San Marzano tomatoes, they are more expensive but worth every penny. San Marzano tomatoes are sweeter, have more flesh and fewer seeds than roma tomatoes. Look for the DOP mention on the label which assures you that you are getting authentic certified San Marzano tomatoes. As a mater of fact, they are so good that, in Italy, they are the only tomatoes that can be used for the best pizza in the world, the true Neapolitan Pizza.
See my recipe for a super easy for a no-knead pizza dough as well my Marguerita Pizza recipe.
